Johanna worked with Serena at Egytian Gardens many times over the years. I was lucky enough to see her perform a Karsilama outside with some of her students at an outdoor festival in NYC when I was a kid.

It was neat to see Serena in the old Egyptian Gardens dressing room, which wasn't much. Johanna refused to come back when the old owners owned it because it was so bad. They installed a nice one and Johanna agreed to return. Johanna was still working the Egyptian Gardens until two weeks before it closed. It was a sad time.

Serena is a very nice lady besides being a wonderful dancer. There is nothing like the "classic" dancers of that period.

Yeah, I loved both of them, too. The thing that I really dug about that black and white short film of Serena's is the "felliniesque" quality about it. Reminds me of those post war Italian foreign flicks that were so big.
